The wonders of YouTube
Everyone is out tonight, and I was at a loss for something to do after I came in from dinner. So I logged onto You Tube and did a few searches for some old favourite tunes. You just go to www.youtube.com and in type the band name and song title into the search field. They seem to have everything you might ever look for?
Genesis : Follow You, Follow Me
This song was played at my friend's father's funeral, when we were about 10 years old. I vowed then that it would always be a lifetime favourite of mine, and it always has been. It's a beautiful song, with such sad, haunting lyrics.
REO Speedwagon : Can't Fight This Feeling
I was in the pub yesterday, and the TV screen was playing this song, but they had it muted, with some punkish music playing. Very frustrating! I remember loving this song when I was very young, and just had another listen thanks to YouTube. It's so corny, and the video is so 1980s (or could it be 1970s?! Mullets like you couldn't dream up in your worst nightmare!), but that's why I love it!
Cold Chisel : Choir Girl
The quintessential Aussie tune, in my book. I was sitting at a party in the south of England one Saturday night in January 1992. Everyone was just sitting around chatting. Someone put this song on, and suddenly half the room (myself included) were on the dance floor bopping like their lives depended on it. The poms in the room didn't have a clue what was going on.
Bee Gees : You Win Again
Another Aussie band who I really love. A few years ago I was totally addicted to this song, not sure why really but it's still quite appealing to listen to.
ABBA : Take a Chance on Me
No music reminiscence is complete without an Abba tune or three! This is one of my favourite ABBA bops.
The Fray : How to Save a Life
It's not an oldie, but it is a beauty.
Anyway, someone has just given me instructions on how to fix my disk-cleanup problem, so I'll stop bopping for now.
